She & Him - Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?
A weird, weird video, but in a cool way
Pierced Arrows - Straight To The Heart
I finally got hold of the new Pierced Arrows album yesterday, it’s a kick-ass album with Fred and Toddy Cole picking up right where they left of with Dead Moon. The sound, the aesthetics and everything else is pretty much the same as it just to be with Dead Moon. For most bands that might be seen as a lack of evolvment or progress, but then Dead Moon wasn’t like most bands. Togther with new drummer Kelly Halliburton, Fred and Toddy continues to pump out awesome dark and dirty garage rock. May they never retire!

Vivian Girls - I Can’t Stay
Sweet acoustic version of “I Can’t Stay” recorded by the Vivan Girls for the Pink Couch Sessions
Athens, GA. Inside/Out
This is one great, great documentary:
“Led by the success of the B-52’s and R.E.M., Athens, Georgia was the most happening music scene in the country by the mid 80’s. This film paints Athens as a magical artistic environment where bands are not in competition, but co-exist in harmony”. (Via pitchfork.tv)
Bobby Marchan - Shake Your Tambourin
Here’s a great track from a man it should be possible to write a great biography about. If you’re into raw 60’s soul you probably already know him, if not this is a artist worth checking out.
Bobby Marchan started out a drag queen, then he joined forces with Huey “Piano” Smith and the Clowns, later he was signed to Stax Records on recommendation of none other than Otis Redding, made some great tunes, made a hit for Slade with “Get Down With It”, he then lost his record deal and went back to his drag roots, before resurfacing a decade later as a MC with the probably awesome “I Wanna Bump With the Big Fat Woman.” In 1987 he recorded his final single, an update version of his biggest hit “There Is Something on Your Mind.” But my favorite is “Shake Your Tambourin” a great R&B hit from 1966.

Live Report: Radiohead
Radiohead also put on a great show yesterday, as they played for a sold-out Wuhlheide (20-25000 people). Great music, great lights, great aesthetics in general. Like always it’s difficult to say something negative about Radiohead. High class all the way.
Here’s a video of “Weird Fishes” from last night:
